EVENTS:
1843: Sir Charles Napier, Governor Of Sindh apprises the Government of India of his big political achievement. He reports that the great Assembly (Darbar) of about 20,000 men was held in which 8,000 chiefs and Jageerdars with their followers made Salam and assured their unconditional loyalty with the Government . He further writes that he had pardoned all who had not made Salam before this occasion and Jageers of those who fell in battle had been given to their children subject to the payment of rent. He writes that Walli Muhammad Chandio was presented with a gold scimitar for his loyalty and fidelity.
1949: The Executive Council of the Punjab Muslim League condemns the promulgation of the Governor’s Rule in the province .
1955: Fatima Jinnah is worried about unchecked foreign influence in the country and fears uprising of people if their rights are not restored and real democracy is not introduced in the country.
1977: Pakistan Communist Party takes re-birth. It was declared unlawful in 1953 and ban was withdrawn in December 1971.
1984: There are 1.3 million addicts in Pakistan, says a Pakistan Narcotics Control Board official.
1988: Muhammad Khan Junijo, Prime Minister of Pakistan briefs Chinese Prime Minister Le Peng on Geneva Accord in Bejing.
1996: IMF demands lowering of the budget deficit and introduction of  General Sales Tax and Agricultural Income Tax as loan conditionalities.
