UN-TOLD HISTORY OF OUR
TIMES: HONOUR KILLING IN DISTRICT LARKANO (INCLUDING KAMBAR SHAHDADKOT) FROM
1996 TO 2000
I have been sharing history of British Sindh with friends, but today I have selected an important tpoic related to our burning issue of Honour-Killing,so as to give my friends impression that we must spare some time for collecting data/information about our times with aim to transfer it to our coming generations.It will help them to see us in our true colours and make their Present and future more bright and civilized.
This may kindly be put in mind that Sindhis are not the pioneers of ugly tradition of Honour Killing, but due to our hatred for this tradition and and positive role of Sindhi Journalism to create awareness, cases of Honour-Killings are reported and exposed timely and accordingly. But,other people are getting bad impression about Sindhi society and not appreciating dare of press and people to take notice of these events.
No doubt, there are so many reasons behind this ugly tradition. Wadero is playing its negative role for his own interests such as to bring bad name to his opponent, to get lion's share from fine imposed on involved party. It is also because of to punish any lady/girl that refused to marry with un-matching man, or to deprive her of property/wealth.

I have collected
data/information covering 42 Police Stations. It consists of Caste-wise, Gender-wise; Relationship-wise and
year-wise cases. I will not include list of Castes involved in crime, because
it will create un-wanted and bad impression about some castes. The data reveals
that the relations, that are responsible for this crime and are at top, are:
husband, brother -in-laws and friends of killer belonging to other castes.
In five years from 1.1.1996 to 31.1.200, total number of victims (killed) is 288, ie: 177 women and 111 men. As year-wise, the number of victims is : 1996 (21 men + 42 women = total 63), in 1997 ( 24 men + 39 women = 63); in 1998 ( 23 men + 37 women = 60); in 1999 ( 26 men + 33 women = 59) & in 2000 ( 17 men + 26 women =43 ). As per relationship with killed lady, it reveals that in fiv years highest number of 91 of women was killed by Husband, 33 were killed by other relatives ( but not by close relatives like Brother, Brother-in-law or father). However the number of killing by Brother is 22.
we have compiled complete list of names of men and women victims also and that can be provided to any researcher or Human rights agency.
