BEFORE THE RESTORATION OF THE GADI OF PIR PAGARO And Role of Pir
Ali Muhammad Shah Rashdi
History
of Hur Movement launched by followers of Pir Sooreh Badshah is yet to be narrated in
its true colours with pure objectivity. Perhaps, it is policy of the most influential
people related to the Gadi of Pir Pagaro, not to conduct detailed research on
the subject as it will open some unwanted doors and discussions. No doubt, the
Hur Movement was of Sooreh Badshah and his followers, by them, but it was also
a golden chapter of the History of Freedom Movement. The Source-Material on the
subject is available with Jamait besides, in official records. Whenever,
material/information in custody of Jamait/followers of Pagaro is shared with people in the shape of
any book, is dominated by subjectivity and is coloured in their spiritual
connections and traditions. Hence, it carries nominal importance for other
Scholars. It is need of the time to involve and engage impartial scholars in
this task so as comprehensive, impartial and fact-oriented research can be
conducted in the greater history of the Freedom Movement. In this regard, me
and my Gul Hayat Institute has been offering its services, but all in vain. In spite
of the fact that most of people know about valuable collection and collection
on Pagaras and their Religious, Political and Literary services.
I
have been sharing some posts on the subject since long. Today, I am sharing one
para from the secret letter written by the then Governor of Sindh M.Dow and dispatched
to the Viceroy of India on 20th, September 1945. It reveals very important fact
of the history relating to the restoration of Gadi of Pir Pagaro. For observing
objectivity in my research approach, I am avoiding my comments on the subject.
Let us read it and peep into the history. The Governor writes as under:
“Pir”
Ali Mahomed Rashid, of whose tentative moves in the direction of restoring the Pir Pagaro’s and of seating himself on it I have already informed you, has issued a manifesto declaring his
intention to contest the Sind Muslim seat in the Central Assembly against the
sitting member, yousif Haroon. I am informed that his real object is to
blackmail Yousif Haroon into paying him to stand down, and that this is one of
the matters in which Jinnah has been asked to adjudicate. According to my
Speaker, Rashdi is sticking out for half a lakh and Yousif will not at present
budge Rs. 30,000. If yousif had more sense and less money he would denounce
Rashdi and let him do his worst, for I cannot imagine that this seedy, needy
adventurer has any great chance of success
