EVENTS
1849:
Government of Bombay asks Sindh Commissioner to find out a suitable
post for Seth Naumal Hotchand, Kardar of Karachi. He was prior to this
granted 1,000 Bigas of land for his life time. Sindh Commissioner is
asked to make arrangements for providing water to his land. This may
kindly be noted that in reaction to Muslim action against his father, he
helped the East India Co. Government to occupy Sindh. He was near and
dear to Major Outram, therefore he was victimized by Governor Charles
Napier.
1947: Raja
Ghazanfar Ali, Minister for Muhajreen Affairs advises people to accept
and accommodate Indian Muslim migrants as they have opted for Pakistan
and cannot be pushed back to India.
1953:
The 22 million dollar Economic Aid Agreement between Pakistan and U.S.A
is signed in Karachi. It is interesting subject and topic of research
to study the total Aid received by country since its creation and its
province-wise utilization.
1961: The Central Cabinet decides re-organization of West Pakistan Administration.
1962: President Ayoob inaugurates the new broadcasting House at Hyderabad.
1963: Survey of 26.8 million acres of saline and waterlogged land in West Pakistan is completed at a cost of Rs.57.7 million.
1968: PPP announces candidature of Z.A.Bhutto for next presidential election.
1990:
Top bidder to pay Rs. 838.3 million for Muslim Commercial Bank. Higher
offer is made by a Karachi Businessman Qadir Tawakal.
