Syed Allahando Shah By. Dr.Pathan
Syed Allando Shah
By. Dr. Dur Muhammad Pathan
Syed Alhando Shahson of Syed Yousif Shah was born on 17th October 1857 at Dabhro, District Kandiaro . His father was eminent landlord. For the education of local youth, he founded a Maderasah at Naushehro Feroz in 1903. . He served as member District Local Board Hyderabad and Naushehro Feroz, Member Bombay Council and President Sindh Muhammadan Association. He died on 19th October 1919.
ESTABLISHMENT OF MADRESSAH:
The Government of the East India Company was never interested in spreading of education for Subjects. Aliens were interested only for its Economic Motives and dragging the Raw Material from Sindh. However, the Government was in need of loyalty and un-conditional support of the Upper Class of Sindh. Therefore, it thought about educating Children of this class. Some Schools were opened in Sindh. But, keeping in mind that it is an expensive Project, the Government started Awards, Titles and Chairs to create a Class of Nears & Dears, so as to rule the Masses through this Class without any heavy Expenditure on Administration, Law and Orders. This Class served Government in Judicial field also. Hence, so many Justices of Peace were also nominated accordingly.
In this state of exploitation and Government’s policy of avoiding to provide Educational facilities to the people, Trio of Social Reformists: Hassanali Effendi, Syed Allando Shah and Mir of Tando Bago established their Educational Institutions.
Syed Allaando shah opened Naushera Feroz Madressah in 1903. He also established a Hostel for this Maderassah in 1904.The hostel block of Madressah High School, which flourished until the early pre-partition days and provided accommodation to the literary giants like Allama Daudpoto, Dr. N.A Baloch and others. This Maderssah was upgraded as High School in 1918. Curvy Campus of Naushahro Feroze Madressah High School, built by great social reformer, Syed Alhando Shah of Darbelo. Major part of it is occupied by a various agencies of education department & rest is rapidly losing ground due to fast deterioration amidst government's apathy
MEMBER OF THE BOMBAY LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL:
The first meeting of the erstwhile Legislative Council of the then Bombay Province was held on 22 January 1862 at the Durbar Hall of the Town Hall in Bombay. The meeting was then chaired by the then Governor, Sir George Russell Clerk. The first five Indian members of the council were chosen such that three of them did not know English.
In 1892, the role of the Council was expanded by the Indian Councils Act 1892 and increased the total number of members of the Council to twenty. The non-official members were to be nominated from the Bombay Municipal Corporation, the Fellows of Bombay University, the Chamber of Commerce of Bombay, the Chamber of Commerce of Karachi, the zamindars of Sind, the sardars of the Deccan, the municipalities of the Northern Division, the local boards of the Southern Division and three representatives of the Central Division. The Council could discuss the annual financial statement and ask questions subject to certain limitations. Syed Allando Shah became member of this Council this Year.
The Indian Councils Act 1909 officially introduced the method of electing members to the Council, but did not provide for direct election of the members. It abolished automatic official (executive) majorities in the Council and gave its members the power to move resolutions upon matters of general public interest and the budget and also to ask supplementary questions.
Based on the recommendations of the Montague-Chelmsford report, the Government of India Act of 1919 was enacted. The Act enlarged the Bombay legislative council and increased the strength of elected members to be greater than that of nominated and official members. It introduced a system of diarchy in the Provinces. Syed Allando Shah remained Member of this Council, till his death.
The Government of India Act of 1935 abolished diarchy and established provincial autonomy.
Sindh played vital role in this Council up to 1936, when she was awarded provincial autonomy and a new Sindh Legislative Assembly was established under The Government of India Act of 1935.
Gul Hayat Institute is working on this project and compilation of the list of Sindh Members is in hand and sample of the same is shared here with lovers of Sindh History. We have collected very important Proceedings and Debates of the Bombay Council related to Sindh also.

SYED ALLAANDO SHAH & THE SINDH MUHAMMADAN ASSOCIATION:
Since Partition none of Sindh Scholars, except me have worked on the understanding and propagating the history of Sindh with special reference to the British Period, besides, Talpur and Present Periods. With the result that our glorious Past has been hijacked and facts has been distorted by Anti-Sindh Scholars at large. They say that Sindh has not played a vital role in the Freedom Movement. I have compiled the list of 6000 Sindhi Freedom Fighters and published on my Website.
These Ugly Souls has claimed and written that SINDH Muhammadan Association was formed in Sindh on the instructions of Justice Amir Ali, who visited Sindh in his professional visit of pleading a Case. Hassanali Effendi saw and met him and the matter of opening of the branch of Central Muhammadan Association was discussed. Whereas, it is a historical fault and blunder.
Justice Amir Ali visited Sindh on 31th August 1884. Whereas, Sindh Muhammadan Association was established on 16th March, 1884 and its First Branch was opened on 18th June 1884 in Shikarpur. How is is possible that a person coming to Sindh in August 1884 can advise Effendi to open Branch of the Central Muhammadan Association of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan?
The Sindh Muhammadan Association remained active till the sepration of Sindh from Mombai Presidency in 1936.It was headed by the following as its Presidents & Secretaries. (A) Presidents: Hassan Ali Effendi, K.B.Khudadad, Sardar Muhammad Yakoob, K.B.Shaikh Sadik Ali, Muhammad Ibrahim, Syed Allahando Shah, Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto & K.B.Muhammad ayoob Khuhro. (B) Secretaries: Moulvi Allah Bux “Abojho”, Wali Muhammad Hassan Ali & Pir Ali Muhammad Shah Rashdi. Syed Allaando Shah was its Fifth Presidend. He remained as an active Member and dynamic President of the Sindh Muhammadan Assiciation. Some of Meetings of the Association, in which Syed Allando Shah attended and participated, were:

Whosoever was Viceroy of India or Governor of Bombay during Membership & Presidency of Syed Allahando Shah, and was presented Memorandum By the Sindh Muhammadan Association, Syed Allalando shah was one of its Signatures.
Syed Allahando Shah breathed his last in October, 1919. In August , the Sindh Muhammadan Association presented Address to the Governor Of Bombay. It was the last Document that was signed by Syed Allahando Shah as the president of the Association.
It is a rare Document of our Political History. The Sindh Muhammadan Association in this Address invited attention of the Governor to the following problems:
1. Muhammadans; Education.
2. Revision of Land Settlement.
3. Larger Powers for Local Boards.
4. Due share in appointments.
5. Merger Progress of Cooperative Societies.
6. Starting of Sukkur Barrage Project.
